A Quick Trip to NYC

Updated: Mar 23, 2020

This past weekend I went to New York City as I wanted to get away from school for a couple of days. I have a friend that goes to school in the city and got him to show me around, but it was also cool that my friend came down from school in Connecticut and I got to see her as well.

Fashion Week was going on and although I wasn't sitting front row at any fashion shows, it was super cool to see people all dressed up and posing on the streets trying to get the best street style pictures.

Places to Eat:

Restaurant Nippon:

I wanted sushi so badly when I came here, this authentic restaurant was close to my friend's dorm and was so good! I had never had a rainbow roll before and now it is one of my favorite kinds of sushi.

Sarabeth's:

I think this is a great brunch place. I got the chicken sausage and kale frittata because I miss having good eggs in college. I hear that the muffin basket is also amazing from locals in the city.

Sadelle's:

This brunch restaurant is one of the best brunch places I have ever been to. They have gluten-free bagels and this herbed cream cheese was so good put together with the bagel, a side of avocado, and scrambled eggs on top. I don't know what it is about their scrambled eggs, but they are SO GOOD!

Cha Cha Matcha:

I love my matcha and this is the best place to get it! (Also one in LA)

La Colombe Coffee:

They have really great coffee drinks, as well as vegan croissants and gluten-free donuts among the pastries.

Areas To Explore:

Soho:

This is my favorite area; there are lots of shops, like Golden Goose, Kith, and The Real Real, and great restaurants, like Two Hands and the Butcher's Daughter. I love the look of all the buildings and is a really cool place to walk around.

The Bottom of Central Park:

A Nordstrom just opened up on 57th and Broadway and is five stories of pure beauty. Possibly the best Nordstrom I have ever visited. Also, 5th avenue is a quick walk away for some more shopping. I also recommend just even cutting through the park because it is so cool to see all the trees with the skyscrapers in the back.

When it comes to the Empire State Building or the Top of The Rock (aka Rockefeller), I definitely prefer the Rockefeller Building as you can see the Empire State Building included in the view.

Also, I know people think that going to Times Square is soooo touristy and I know there are so many people, but I always make an effort to go and check it out because I love all of the lights and how bright it is, it also brings back so many good memories like when my dad and I were there for the ball drop on New Years. One time, my friends and I went to H&M and they had this runway where it would take photos and then it gave you a time that they would post those photos on their Times Square board. So we did it, and to this day, it remains one of the things I like to tell people as an interesting fact about myself.

Chelsea Market and The High Line are a fun summertime activity.

I have always had a love for New York and it is always the best to go and visit. I am excited to go back and discover more things I haven't done before.
