Best Spots In Bloomington, Indiana

My first year at Indiana University was unfortunately cut short, but I am so grateful for all the amazing memories I made and great people I met. Someone once told me that Bloomington was was a top food town in the country, so of course, I needed to see if this was true. My friends and I were always trying to explore the different food spots in town and see what was the best. These restaurants are my favorite places to eat/ go in Bloomington!

Breakfast:

1) The Runcible Spoon

2) The Inkwell

My favorite granola in the entire world, and with coconut milk, it is so good. Also this place is really great for studying, but on a Sunday it is really busy so if you plan on studying or working there, get there early.

Brunch:

1) Feast Market & Cellar

I LOVE this place. They have oat milk! Which I don't find at many Bloomington places. I tried the nutella latte with oat milk and it was delicious, also the chai latte with oat milk is great! I love that when I ordered the Eggs Your Way, I replaced the brioche with gluten-free bread, but instead of it just being store bought, it tasted homemade and was really flavorful with all the seeds!

2) InBloom Juicery

If you are looking for a good açaí bowl, I recommend InBloom. Their açaí bowls are the closest to the ones back in California and they remind me of home. The Kale Greenhardt juice is super tasty and it doesn't taste like a green juice, I love the combination of pineapple and kale.

3) FARM Bloomington

Lunch:

1) Bloomingfoods

Bloomingfoods makes sandwiches and has a hot food station. They have a really good seeded gluten-free bread here that I always love to get to make avocado toast.

Dinner:

My friends and I made it our goal to visit a new restaurant in Bloomington every Friday night for dinner. These were some of my favorites:

1) FARM Bloomington

They have very good fries here, which are a weakness of mine.

2) Siam House

Fourth street is full of so many different restaurants, and Siam House is a house turned restaurant that has some pretty good Thai food to offer. The Chicken Pad See Ew and the Thai Style Ribs are some of my favorites.

3) Viva Mas

The salsa that comes with the chips is so good! I ordered the street tacos with carnitas and put some of the salsa on top and it was delicious!

4) Feast Market & Cellar

5) Ami

Sushi is my favorite food category. I was hesitant to have fish when I first got to Indiana, but I went here and they have really good salads that they serve with the sushi, and the sushi is pretty good too.

Dessert:

1) Baked of Bloomington!

Baked is some of the best cookies you will ever have and the place is so unique. You get to create your own cookies with whatever you want in or on them, and fifteen minutes later, you have warm and dough-y goodness.

2) Hartzell's Ice Cream

Yes, I did get vegan double dark chocolate ice cream and yes I put m&m's on top. So they counteract each other, right?

Study Spots:

1) Rainbow Bakery

This bakery is completely vegan, but there is also a gluten-free cabinet. I love all the baked goods, but my favorites are the gluten-free banana chocolate chip muffin, the gluten-free oatmeal cream pie, and the gluten-free mallow chip cookies. Also Wifi! I really love this place to study and work on any homework.

2) Poindexter Coffee

This coffee shop is located at the bottom of the Graduate Hotel. There are comfy couches, tables, and high top chairs to sit at. They have a good selection of hot and cold coffees and they have matcha! The avocado grain bowl is really good and good for a quick lunch while studying.

3) Cup & Kettle

Really good place to study, I like to sit by the window.

Quick Bites:

1) La Poblana Taco Truck

They have really good tamales and it looks and tastes authentic and yummy! Also the burritos look really really good. Perfect for a bite on the go or for those weekend nights when Kirkwood Ave is blocked off for the night and all the food trucks are set up along the street.
