How To Stay Active In Quarantine- Crossfit Chalk

Crossfit Chalk opened in April of 2014. I didn't really go that much until high school, when I was playing water polo and swimming, and met with trainers at the gym to help me improve in the pool. On the weekends, my dad and I would go and do the partner workout on Saturday, but besides that I didn't really go that much. However, in the summer between my senior year of high school and freshman year of college, I would drag my dad over there probably four times a week. We would always attend the 7 am Sweat! class since I wanted a little more cardio in my workout.

Here is my little sister, Kate, in November of 2016, hanging out in the gym.

Crossfit Chalk is located in Costa Mesa, California and has 60 minute classes. Their Crossfit classes are hard and challenging, but are great because they help you work towards a goal, such as a specific PR that you may want to have. Sweat!, the class that I go to, has a mixture of weight lifting exercises combined with cardio that may be on the rower, assault bike, or ski machine. Whenever I attend these classes, I know that I am always working towards improving my fitness. You can find more information about the classes on their website: crossfitchalk.com

The Daily D is the workout we can use while in this quarantine. My dad described it as a workout for people who are unable to get to the gym, but can still be able to work towards their fitness goals. About a week ago, the gym announced that they would be closing, but members were able to bring home a pair of dumbbells if they wanted to, which would help them complete these exercises if they did not have any at home. Here are two examples, to the left, of workouts that you could do online. You can always improvise with your equipment, like using a case of waters for goblet squats and two heavy objects you have at home for your dumbbells. Amazon has a jump rope on Prime for $8.00 that is handy if you do not have one already. Click here

It is important to stay active and healthy while we are in quarantine and to keep your body moving. Here is a good article on the importance of staying active while we are confined to our homes: You Can Take Care of Yourself in Coronavirus Quarantine or Isolation, Starting Right Now.

Also, the owner Ryan Fischer, has a Carbs 30-day Challenge which I did over the summer and saw some amazing changes with my body, but then I went to college and you know how that goes. But let's get ahead of the "Quarantine 15!" You even have the option to choose which challenge you would like to participate in.

The next challenge starts MARCH 30TH!!!

Do it with a friend, over FaceTime of course, or a family member to help you stay on track with this challenge. If you stay with this, I guarantee you will see results. Doing this challenge definitely made me more mindful of what I was putting into my body and educated me on what my body needs. Ryan knows what he is talking about, with a BS in Exercise Sport Science and a BS, Minor in Nutrition, he has the knowledge to help you conquer your goals.

If you don't live in Southern California, I hope that once the COVID-19 goes away, you are able to come visit us and do a class at Crossfit Chalk!
