We may be stuck in the house on this day, but there are still ways that you can make it special.
1) Brunch!
Aka the best meal of the week. This Mother's Day, we are planning on getting our favorite bagels and cream cheese from Shirley's Bagels, and then getting some Lox, avocado, capers, onion, and anything else that the fam wants.
Gotta go, I have to find out how to make a brunch as good as Sadelle's in NYC.
2) Go for a family walk
We are constantly stuck inside, get outside, enjoy the fresh air, get some exercise. Maybe you can walk to a local coffee shop and get your caffeine fix. Or walk around a harbor.
3) Have a Karaoke Night
Story Time: A couple of years a go we were in Las Vegas and we were getting an Uber back to our hotel. We see our Uber and the neon lights lit around the interior, we get inside and we say our hellos and then the driver hands us a microphone and iPad and says that we can do Karaoke. That's when I discovered my love for singing, I am not good and I probably cracked a few windows, but it was so fun and my mom was cracking up watching me. My mom sure loves to sing as well and I definitely see this as a fun quarantine Mother's day activity.
4) Have a Dance Party
Last night, my sister was trying to get me to do a TikTok that involved a cart-wheel, which I cannot do, and that got my adrenaline pumping and one thing led to another and we were having a dance party. We have a lot of dance parties here in our house.
5) Make a Flower Arrangement For Your Mom
Flowers are so pretty and although I have not tried it yet, I really want to try and make my own flower arrangement. I have seen my mom do it before and we always love to have fresh flowers in the house.
6) Have a Family BBQ
My family and I love BBQs and sitting outside. I love cooking up kebabs, corn, and bell peppers on the barbecue.
7) Make Your Mom's Favorite Dessert
It's a special day which calls for special desserts made my you! Think about of a way to make it creative!
These cookies from Baked! of Bloomington, from when my mom came and visited me, have me wanting to recreate them at home.
8) Make A Scrapbook For Your Mom
Make a sentimental scrapbook for your mom to look back and relive all of those special memories.
9) Take A Family Bike Ride
If there's nice weather, a bike ride is nice to see more and get outside for a little bit.
10) Have a Picnic!
Make your mom lunch and take her to a nice place and have a cute picnic!
Missing this charcuterie board :(
11) Plant Some Plants Together
My mom loves gardening and I remember one time where my mom, my sister and I all planted our own little herbs in the garden. It was nice and I could tell my mom really enjoyed it.
12) Go For A Sunset Drive
These are fun to just play music and take in the scenery around you that you may not have gotten to see for a little while.
