Summer is my favorite time of the year, and although Southern California is like an all year round summer, those three months during the year call for no school and a time to relax, hang out with friends, and have a good time. Not too mention that means eating açaí bowls everyday. I wanted to put together some things that I think are perfect for this summer.
This is my go-to look this summer. I have always been a fan of silk because I love the look and the way it feels. Tie-dye has been a major trend and putting these two together is like the perfect recipe.
I had been following Negin Mirsalehi for a while before she launched her hair oil. I heard a lot of good things, and let's face it, Negin's hair is enviable, and knew I had to try it out. When I was in Paris I went to the Galleries Lafayette near the Champs-Elysees and picked up the Honey Infused Hair Oil and the Hair Mask. Since using it my hair has gotten thicker and healthier. I definitely recommend Gisou.
I remember when I first saw these on Romee Strijd, I knew I had to have them. But when I got to the website they were all sold out and I couldn't even find them on Poshmark or Depop! I signed up for the waitlist and waited for an email to arrive in my mailbox saying that they were back in stock. I received an email when I was at a water polo camp on the East Coast and I immediately found a promo code and bought them. I love them for that oversized cat-eye look that I was searching for, for forever.
We all need a summer book to read alongside the pool or while suntanning on the beach. I finished this one and it is hands down my favorite book I have ever read. It really resonates with me and I find Danielle to be so inspirational. She recounts memories of relationships, life, and work, and is a great read for anyone.
Am I the only one who has spent years looking for the perfect pair of high waisted distressed denim shorts that weren't too long, but not too short, oh and they don't feel excruciatingly uncomfortable. Ya, that's me. With these, however, I only heard good things, they were basically sold out everywhere, and I had to hunt down a pair in my size that weren't up for preorder. I love the look of these and will definitely be wearing them all summer.
I may be a little late to the game, but I recently found out from my hair dresser that wearing your hair in a ponytail or bun causes your hair to break! You can prevent this by replacing that hair tie with a big claw clip, or if you're working out put your hair into a cap and put your hair through the back or use a scrunchie.
This one piece is amazing. I absolutely love it. The colors are beautiful and the embroidery on the top is like icing on the cake. This bathing suit with a pair of denim shorts and flip flops calls for the perfect day at the pool or beach.
A nice floral perfume is essential for the summer. I have the rollerball version of this Byredo perfume and the scent lasts all day. Another great perfume is Le Labo's Lys 41.
I love layering gold necklaces in general, but especially during the summertime, and definitely with these two from Lili Claspe. I get so many compliments on them and I love that they are so simple, yet add something special to your look.
Sneakers are a wardrobe essential for me. Besides a good pair of COMFORTABLE sandals, sneakers are about the only shoe you will see me in. I love Golden Goose for some of their very extravagant designs, and honestly, I like the worn look because I've never liked bright white sneakers. In middle school, I would step on my brand new white Ked's to make them look a little more worn in.
Now I know everyone says that a white dress is a summer essential, but I think a skirt is more practical. You can wear a white skirt with all of your summer tops, whereas with one dress, it's one dress meaning one outfit.
This bikini is so pretty, I love the lace on the edges. Also I am really starting to love this kind of bikini bottom and it looks so flattering. Blue Life has some really cute bikinis that I would go check out on shopplanetblue.com.
I love bucket hats. Growing up my mom always put so much emphasis on taking care of our skin and in most of my childhood photos at the beach, are in bucket hats. In fact, I remember when my dad was stung by a sting ray in Mexico, he used my white bucket hat to stop the bleeding. Needless to say that bucket hat went in the trash. But now I think they are a great accessory to wear with your outfit, while also protecting you from the sun.
I love a natural looking mascara and not one that makes your eyelashes look all clumpy. This Gucci one is perfect for natural long looking eyelashes.
My hair dresser recommended this serum to me after seeing how broken my hair was and the amount of split ends I have. It has been working wonders and making my hair look healthier and all round better.
Bandeau tops have been trending lately. With Danielle Bernstein launching them in her collection, and I've seen them at Zara, Aritzia, and Intermix. I also think it's really cool when someone gets a vintage scarf and uses it as a top. Definitely a great top for the summer.
Light wash, high-rise mom jeans are the perfect summer jeans. Pair these with a cropped white tank top and tennis shoes and you have a casual look for the day.
Have you ever tried to recreate that perfect summer glow? These three products from Frankies Bikinis are the perfect combination of how to recreate that look. Pair it with some bronzer, maybe some concealer and mascara and you're good to go.
This bikini top is perfect for 4th of July and even just a day at the beach/ pool. The big tie up bows add a little more extravagance. You know what they say, life's too short to wear boring clothes.
